Joinery Depot: Wren Kitchens’ Trade Arm In East Yorkshire

Making Sales Quicker & More Efficient At National Brand’s Trade Counter

The Joinery Depot is a Trade Counter who supply kitchens, bedrooms and Joinery materials for both trade customers and public customers.

Set up in 2012, the Joinery Depot sold kitchens via the Wren Group, who are now a one stop shop for kitchens, bathrooms and joinery materials. Targeting retail and trade customers from their store in Hull, the Joinery Depot’s ethos of high quality as well as good value has allowed them to build up a solid, loyal customer base, not only for the quality of goods but for the excellence of their customer service.

A key requirement was to have a system which operates within a single site, but as the company grows to multiple sites, the system grows too.

Reason For Change

As the company formed they decided to use Sage 50 as their accounting software. This enabled them to manage their accounting processes more efficiently and gave them the functionality their growing business needed. Following this, it was decided to consider an EPOS system which they wanted to integrate with their existing Sage 50 package. As the company sell to both retail and trade customers it was important that the system was able to switch between retail and trade modes quickly and easily. A key requirement was that the EPOS solution was the ability to function within a trade counter environment.

The Solution

As KCPOS integrates with Sage 50 as standard, this was the natural solution for Joinery Depot. All three tills we’re installed at Joinery Depot’s premises in Hull and each integrates with one another and with their existing Sage 50 accounting package. KCPOS transactions are now being directly entered into Sage 50 with no re-keying required.

What we want to do is have a centralized system to not only reported everything but it went straight back to our head office as well so it will be analysed.


Since KCPOS has been implemented, Joinery Depot has seen vast improvements in their business processes which ultimately fulfils their aim of providing a high level of customer service. Orders can now be processed much faster and both trade and retail customers can be dealt with more efficiently, which means in store queues are kept to a minimum whilst sales remain high. The Joinery Depot staff had basic KCPOS training and have since found the system extremely user friendly, alongside the ongoing retail support available for any KCPOS queries.

Now we’re using KC Back-Office it’s obviously bought everything up to speed we can go on at any given time to see what different outlets have processed and how much money they’ve taken. The analysis that we get with the back office is obviously bang up to date. We can split all the different cost centres down. If we have a problem with people if they paid bills you know we can analyse it even more.

A Successful Implementation

We achieved the current setup through our custom bespoke solution that was written to support our daily activities.

The final solution was a custom fit for Joinery Depot’s trade counter linking to Sage 50. This fundamentally changed the way that they do business for the better. Providing on-demand visibility of sales and stock data immediately allows for more informed business decisions.
